Abstract
During a six-year period spinal cord monitoring has been done on a total of 121 cases during spinal fixation. In 105 cases (104 of which were idiopathic scoliosis) a post-operative neurological assessment was recorded and these were analysed for intra-operative monitoring events. A monitoring event is defined as a fall in the epidurally recorded potential to 50% or less of the original amplitude which could not be attributed to technical causes and about which the surgeon was informed.
