Jet spectra of aromatic molecules in hydrogen bonded microsolvent clusters

  • Chapter
Jet Spectroscopy and Molecular Dynamics

Abstract

Due to the importance of and widespread interest in weak intermodular interactions, an increasing number of complexes between aromatic chromophores bearing different functional groups and the important solvent molecules H2O and NH3 have been studied in supersonic molecular beams [151, 5962]. Of great importance is the ability to measure mass-selective spectra of H-bonded complexes of increasing size, and increase the microsolvent surrounding in a stepwise manner up to a complete solvent ‘shell’, while concurrently monitoring the spectroscopic effects on electronic and vibrational transitions.
