Task force of the ESC on digital cardiovascular imaging

  • Chapter
Progress in quantitative coronary arteriography

Part of the book series: Developments in Cardiovascular Medicine ((DICM,volume 155))

Summary

Digital cardiac imaging in the catheterization laboratory has become a new modality that has gained widespread acceptance in the cardiological community. Concerned about the lack of quality control and standardization in this field, the European Society of Cardiology has installed a Task Force to investigate the problems involved with digital imaging and provide recommendations for present use and future development in this field.

Multiple sessions of this Task Force together with expert cardiologists and industry representatives have resulted in a number of basic recommendations for digital cardiac imaging that has inbetween been approved by the Board of the ESC and will be published in the near future. Part of the result of these expert discussions is presented in this paper.
