Abstract

We present 0.49 arcsec/px resolution near-infrared imaging of the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 5252, taken with the 256×256 px IRAC2 array on the 2.2m telescope at ESO, La Silla. The flux in a small aperture is dominated by the bulge with the Seyfert nucleus becoming less evident toward shorter wavelengths, indicating considerable reddening in the nuclear region. We find a band of red material in the 5000 Å - 2.2 μm continuum colour ratio map perpendicular to the ionization cones, possibly obscuring the nucleus. Further evidence for obscuration comes from near-infrared colours which indicate significant contribution from hot dust.
