Abstract

Many transport economists and planners have recently acquired the experience of appearing on conference platforms or at round-table discussions with the brief of persuading a technical or political audience of the merits of road pricing. The power of the idea of road pricing is so strong that, with a little practice, the speaker quickly finds solutions to most of the standard objections that are raised, to the entire satisfaction of the speaker, if not always of the audience.
