Abstract

Barley is the most important cereal crop in Scandinavia. Scandinavian barley breeding has rather similar objectives. As a means of encouraging collaboration and exploitation of genetic variation, covariation, responsiveness and stability of important traits, a joint Nordic research program on barley breeding was set up and founded by the Nordic Councils of Ministers. We present results obtained in this research program from 1987 to 1989 (SNP p 87:1).
