Abstract
Marine science and technology in the U.K. depend on several Ministries, each with its specific competence. The greatest part of financial help comes from the two Ministries of Agriculture: the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) for England and Wales, and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland (SOAFD). The programmes are coordinated internally between the two Ministries.
