Abstract

The southern South China Sea refers to the area between 12°N and 2°N in the South China Sea (SCS). This area is occupied mainly by the Nansha Block. The present paper discusses the geological and geophysical characteristics of the Nansha Block based on the primary analysis of geophysical data obtained by our institute in four cruises since 1987 in cooperation with the geological and geophysical data available from publications.
