Abstract
I begin with the remark that “is sacred,” like “is beautiful,” but unlike “is red” is not a determining, but rather a modifying predicate (in Brentano’s sense of that distinction). The way I am now using the distinction between determining and modifying predicates has to be understood in the following manner.
