Abstract

It is not always obvious why a particular topic becomes a focus of attention and interest. At first sight this is the case with home care: don’t we all know that Dutch health care is a decent and humane system? why should it have to change? It is only on closer inspection that the links with a range of social trends become clear, showing the concern with home care to be more than a chance matter. In this chapter we outline the social context of the scenario study.
