Abstract
Canopy photosynthesis can be calculated by integrating individual leaf photosynthesis over the entire leaf canopy. The value of leaf photosynthesis at each point in time and each point in the leaf canopy is a function of the local environmental conditions, operating on the leaf response curve. Here, some characteristics of the leaf response curve shall be analysed in greater detail. We shall discuss the response curves of CO2 assimilation rate to either irradiation or ambient CO2, and how these curves are related. The rate of photorespiration, and how photorespiration can be represented is discussed as well.
