Abstract
Wound bleeding is one of the factors influencing the success rate of strabismus surgery. In fact, control of bleeding is the major contribution of the anaesthetist to the success of strabismus surgery. If significant bleeding occurs during an operation, surgery is more difficult to perform and lasts longer. This reduces the chance of a successful operation. Perioperative and postoperative bleeding result in a greater chance of adhesions forming between the recently operated eye muscles and surrounding tissues due to organisation of blood clots. So the principle factors influencing blood loss in strabismus patients will quickly be reviewed.
