Summary Ecology of Mosaic Landscapes: Consolidation, Extension and Application

  • Chapter
Mosaic Landscapes and Ecological Processes

Abstract

Landscape ecology has become an accepted subdiscipline within ecology. Certain authors (e.g. Wiens, et al, 1993) even suggest that traditional ecology should be replaced by landscape ecology. However, there still are large areas of traditional ecology that have not yet been considered within landscape ecology and there are significant problems for testing theoretical ideas in landscape ecology.
