Abstract

In mountainous areas, jungles or areas generally called badlands, where movement by vehicles is either impossible, prohibitively costly in time and wear and tear, or where access is possible only by an excessive use of bulldozers, helicopters may have to be used for the transportation of personnel, the recording instrument cab or the dogbox, cables and geophones and explosives. Examples of heliportable dogboxes can be seen in Figs 4.5 and 4.6 on pages 35 and 36.
