Physiologic Adaptation During Pregnancy

Abstract

Pregnancy involves major physiologic and anatomic adaptation by all of the maternal organ systems. The anesthesiologist caring for the pregnant patient must understand these physiologic changes in order to provide safe analgesia and anesthesia to the mother and enable safe delivery of the fetus.
