The Syncrystallization of Thianaphthene and Naphthalene an Exercise in Thermodynamic Phase Diagram Analysis

  • Chapter
Science and Technology of Crystal Growth

Abstract

Thermodynamic phase diagram analysis is a notion with a wide meaning. In the context of this contribution it can be specified as an activity in which thermochemical data and phase diagram data, for a given system, are combined in order to arrive at a sound thermodynamic description of the system and a thermodynamically correct phase diagram. That is to say a correct representation or documentation of the equilibrium states of the system, in terms of temperature, pressure and compositions of the phases.
