Abstract

The conventional coil ignition system has been with us for about sixty years and was unchallenged until the ubiquitous transistor burst on the scene. It was admitted that the conventional system was far from perfect but we had learned to live with its weaknesses. One weakness is that the voltage delivered to the plugs falls off at higher engine speeds (see Fig. 9.1).
