Abstract
It is a well-known fact and a subject of continuous scientific and technological research1–5 that activity and selectivity of heterogeneous catalytic reactions depend on the nature of the support. As a specific example the CO hydrogénation (Fischer-Tropsch synthesis)6 has been investigated extensively since the oil crisis in the early 1970s. The activity of supported Pt was found to increase with variation of the support as 1:10:100 in the sequence SiO2, A12O3, TiO2.6,7 A similar situation is met with supported nickel catalysts.8,9 There is also a pronounced support effect on selectivity: The methane yield is generally lower using TiO2 and A12O3 instead of SiO2 as a support.9,10
