Abstract

Many types of equipment have been used and are being used for packaging snacks, but the generally fragile and bulky nature of the products and the advantage of being able to apply inexpensive packaging materials have led to the predominance of pouch-forming equipment in this industry. The measuring process is an essential part of the packaging system, and from hand-filling with volumetric scoops it has advanced through an evolutionary series of changes to automatic weighing and filling on very sophisticated high-speed pouch formers.
