Abstract

Centrifugal machines of the pressure increasing type are covered here; these include pumps, fans, and compressors or blowers. In all these designs the fluid enters axially and is discharged by the rotor into a static collector system and thence into a discharge pipe. Pumps and fans have a common feature in that the fluid is considered incompressible, and in the compressors and blowers there is usually a considerable density change.
