Abstract

Neurotensin (NT) is a tridecapeptide localized in the N cells of the jejunal and ileal mucosa (1). The physiological role of NT has not yet been identified but it has been shown to have a wide range of biological actions on gastrointestinal motility, secretion and circulation (2). Several nutrients, particularly fat, were reported to increase plasma levels of NT, suggesting that their gastrointestinal effects were mediated by endogenous release of NT (3).
