Abstract
The possibility of obtaining radar echoes on the Moon is known to have been envisaged as early as 1947, and echoes were in fact observed in 1949. Since then, there has been practically no interruption in observation of the Moon by radar, which has brought us a great deal of important information, including, in particular, a new lunar parallax value (cf. YAPLEE et al., 1965).
This project is supported by the following organizations: CNES, CNET, DGRST, DRME and the Committee for Laser Atmospheric and Space Applications, presided by Professor P. Grivet. The work has been undertaken at the Ecole Polytechnique and at the Pic-du-Midi Observatory, under the direction of Professor Rösch.
