Abstract
Boss 5481, with a spectrum similar to that of VV Cep, has developed an absorption shell spectrum, observed at Asiago from 1965 to the end of 1966. The radial velocities of M and B components have been found to change, while the [Feii] emissions remain stationary. Equivalent width of selected shell and stellar lines have been measured. Ha appears quite featurless at the end of 1965. Photoelectric observations of Loiano exclude a photometric eclipse. On the other hand, the radial velocity curve of the B component does not agree with the extremely long period of about 75 years announced by COWLEY (1967). Possible explanations are: (1) we are confronted with a grazing eclipse, and (2) the velocity curve of the B component does not reflect the orbital motion.
