Abstract
The attention of this study is directed toward the earth and the gods. World, as the interplay of earth and sky, of gods and mortals, gave a better insight into these two basic phenomena in Heidegger’s late thought. However — as indicated near the end of the previous chapter — world, as the interplay of foursome, necessarily refers to a thing which, by standing in the light of the world, ‘things,’ i.e. brings into nearness, the four of the foursome. A thing ‘things’ when it is treated with consideration. Such a treating, a letting-be, is done by dwelling as a mode of being of mortals. Hence, to complete the investigation of world, which eo ipso means to complete the investigation of the phenomena of the earth and the gods, it is necessary to consider thing and dwelling.
