Trapped and Polar Particles During the June 9, 1968 Magnetic Storm
During June 7 to 26, 1968, simultaneous observations of protons and electrons (0.1 to 1.0 MeV) were made. The proton fluxes were consistent with radial diffusion conserving the first two adiabatic invariants. However, the electron fluxes showed a preferential hardening around L = 4.0 consistent with a weak acceleration mechanism. The presence of both electrons and protons outside the trapping boundary was observed for LT = 2100 h. Pitch angle distributions are presented.
