Abstract
A geomagnetic storm is accompanied by effects in the magnetic field at ATS 1 that are as complex as the storm-time effects in the surface field. Nevertheless, the comparison of field measurements taken at a geostationary satellite with those recorded simultaneously at the surface has yielded considerable information on the properties of the storm-time disturbance field. In addition, several types of oscillatory phenomena have been recorded at ATS 1 during storms.
