Abstract
The direct participation of chlorophyll in photosensitized processes as a photocatalyst undergoing a reversible oxidation or reduction, resulting, by means of donating or accepting electrons, in the formation of intermediate highly reactive products of a free radical nature, can be regared, at present, as the most probably mechanism of this pigments photosensitizing action both under model and under natural conditions (EVSTIGNEEV 1965, 1968, SEELY 1966, VERNON & KE 1966).
