Logic and Conceptual Change

  • Chapter
Conceptual Change

Part of the book series: Synthese Library ((SYLI,volume 52))

Abstract

The systems in whose changes we are interested are systems of thought. I shall devote the first part of this essay to a general description of their structure; to a distinction between its various aspects and to the manner in which they may suffer or resist modification; and lastly to a brief consideration of the causes of conceptual change. The remarks made in the first part of this essay will then in its second part be exemplified by, and applied to, logic.1
