Stability in ecosystems: some comments

  • Chapter
Unifying Concepts in Ecology

Abstract

The variety of meanings that can be attached to’ stability’ in ecological contexts has been discussed by Lewontin (1969), Holling (1973), May (1973) and others. Orians (1975) has opened this section with an insightful review of this material.
