Abstract

Pathological analysis of microaneurysm has become available in more detail with the advance of the techniques of vascular injection and retinal digestion. The development of fluorescein angiography has proved to be another benefit, likewise facilitating clinical examination of microaneurysms. However, interpretations of individual microaneurysms often encounter inconsistencies between histological and fluorescein angiographic findings. The purpose of this paper is to throw more light on microaneurysms of the human eye by step-by-step, systematic observation involving fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, incident-light- and transmitted-light fluorescence microscopy as well as routine histopathology.
