Northern End of European Continental Permian — The Oslo Region

  • Conference paper
The Continental Permain in Central, West, and South Europe

Part of the book series: Nato Advanced Study Institutes Series ((ASIC,volume 22))

Abstract

The Permian sedimentary and volcanic stratigraphy of the Oslo graben is reviewed. An analysis of the faulting leads to a three-fold division with displacements more than 1000, 100, and 10 m respectively. Fault directions point to both dextral and sinistral movements if considered an en echelon pattern. Doming of the surroundings is considered insignificant to the east, possible to the west. Continuation of the Oslo graben fault pattern to the south is discussed: The Mittelmeer-Mjösen zone can be deleted.
