Abstract
This paper reviews physical processes which may control the energy density of the atmosphere particularly between the altitudes of 30 and 160 km. Changes of composition and atmospheric parameters which follow from magnetospheric processes and concommitant processes on the sun are emphasized to present a framework for discussing sun-weather relationships. An outline of a theory of sun-weather relationships is presented, and a related quasi-bienniel forcing function identified.
