Dynamical and Chemical Coupling Between the Neutral and Ionized Atmosphere

Abstract

In the International Reference Ionosphere (I.R.I.), a joint effort by URSI and COSPAR, representative profiles of the main parameters of the ionosphere are to be assembled for reference purposes. Agreement has been obtained that significant experimental evidence and not aeronomic theory should be the basis of IRI. Theoretical explanation should be left to individual scientists while assembling and reviewing experimental results is an adequate task for international scientific Unions.
