Recombination Line Observations of Ionized Hydrogen
Recombination line surveys of the large scale distribution of ionized hydrogen in the Galaxy indicate a concentration of material between 4 and 6 kpc from the galactic centre. This is very similar to the distribution derived for molecular hydrogen from CO observations but is unlike that found for atomic hydrogen.
