Abstract
I shall begin my defense of theism by citing a most readily available solution which goes back to antiquity, one of which everybody has heard. This solution has however fallen into general disfavor and there are rarely any theodicies nowadays which make reference to it. Later I shall try to suggest some reasons which may be responsible for the fact that this solution has these days been nearly universally ignored.
