Report on a preparation of phospholipids: Tachostyptan®

  • Chapter
Haemostatic Drugs

Abstract

According to the Chromatographic studies of Deutsch and Fischer (1963), Tachostyptan® is a micellar suspension of the following phospholipids: phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, lysolethicin and lysocephalin. Their quantitative relationship is unknown. It contains at least eleven amino acids and traces of peptides but no protein. The substance is manufactured from fresh animal brain (presumably bovine and porcine), is stable at +4°C for several years, unstable at −20°C or if otherwise frozen, and also unstable at room temperature or in contact with air.
