Abstract
Manipulation of plasma fibrinogen by parenteral administration of thrombin1 or thrombin-like snake-venom enzymes2, in low doses, is being used to favour haemostasis and, in high doses3, to cause blood incoagulability by complete fibrinogen depletion.
