Abstract
Recent advances in micro-machine fabrication have enabled production of machine parts under millimeter in size (Mehregany, 1988). In machine pairs having such small sizes, the surface force is more predominant than the body force. When water is present at the gap between the two parts, the meniscus force attracts two surfaces and increases friction (Bhushan, 1996). In order to avoid stiction between hard disk (media) and head, both the quantity as well as quality of lubricant must be carefully chosen.
