Abstract

Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) has been described to collapse in case of attractive interactions. We perform a careful analysis of this system using a generalization of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The system is investigated considering several sets of values for the three body dissipation and linear feeding parameters. We verified that, for a certain range of the space of parameters, the equation presents unstable solutions that can lead to a chaotic behavior, since the equation presents an exponential increase of the trajectory separation, in similar way found earlier for the complex Landau-Ginzburg equation.
