Abstract

This presentation deals with possibility of using a device, based on the GC-IMS principle, for monitoring chemical warfare agents that are subject to the Chemical Weapons Convention. This device was tested if applicable to detect chemical warfare agents as well as agents of homologous alkylmethylfluorophosphonate series derived from methylfluorophosphonate. Up-to-date results obtained by testing are presented and basic parameters are analyzed. In order to consider usability of the discussed method, measurements of isopropylmethylfluorophosphonate (GB), pinacolylmethylfluorophosphonate (GD), n-propylmethylfluorophosphonate (PMFP), n-butylmethylfluorophosphonate (BMFP), n-pentylmethylfluorophosphonate (PeMFP), n-exylmethylfluorophosphonate (HMFP) were carried out. For these mentioned compounds, basic chromatographic data and ionic mobility spectra are presented in this paper. Obtained data are evaluated with regard to their selectivity and ability to differentiate individual compounds of homologous series. The GC/IMS instrument designed for monitoring toxic agents presence in the working atmosphere is also evaluated from the point of view of its global usage.
