The π-Injector: A New Electrokinetic Dispensing Element for Microdevice Separations

Abstract

We have developed a new electrokinetic injector for microfabricated separation devices that reduces the total number of reservoirs per channel from four to three while still allowing control of the plug size. Sample is introduced through two parallel channels, with the plug length determined by the distance between the channels. The π-injector is a straightforward solution to achieving increased channel densities in high-performance array devices.
