Beads in Biochemical Microfluidics

  • Conference paper
Micro Total Analysis Systems 2002

Abstract

The handling of beads, or microspheres, for specific applications in microfluidics is discussed. Beads add functionality to microfluidic devices which is difficult to achieve otherwise. They can be used as passive components (e.g. as the solid phase for chemical reactions) or as active components (e.g. as an actuator for liquid pumping).
