Abstract

The transport and conformational dynamics of polymers confined in porousmedia is reviewed, with emphasis on DNA in gels and polystyrene in track-etched membranes and porous glasses. These systems are used to illustrate the reptation concept, diffusive and electrophoretic transport under different degrees of confinement, and the effect of polymer topology and polymer-pore affinity on such processes.
