151Eu Mössbauer spectroscopy of the filled skutterdite-type compound EuRu4P12

Abstract

EuRu4P12 with the filled skutterudite-type crystal structure undergoes a ferromagnetic transition at T c= 17.8 K. 151Eu Mössbauer spectroscopy was carried out on EuRu4P12. A magnetic hyperfine field is −398 kOe at 4.2 K and a transferred hyperfine field of −58 kOe is estimated. The transferred hyperfine field of −330 kOe in EuFe4P12 which is ferromagnetic below 100 K is about six times larger than that of EuRu4P12. This ratio of the transferred hyperfine fields correspond well to that of the Curie temperatures.
