Abstract
Cowpea bacterial blight and pustule caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. vignicola (Xcv) is widespread in most areas where cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) is cultivated, especially in higher rainfall areas. For the multitude of cowpea genotypes, especially the newly improved ones by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), information is lacking on their susceptibility to bacterial blight.
