Abstract

Energy losses, occurring both in the transformation of primary energy into usable energy and in final consumption, are estimated in the Community at about 54% of total requirements. The reduction of these losses has become a major objective, with particular emphasis on the following sectors:

  • - domestic and tertiary (losses estimated at 53%)

  • - transport (losses estimated at 83%)

  • - industry (losses estimated at 45%)

  • - industry and energy production (losses estimated at 60%)
