Abstract
The history of science is aware of cases when the name of the author of one theory or concept or another, that has won universal acknowledgement, Is often not mentioned or even forgotten. I do not believe that the name of the man who advanced and substantiated the Idea of the activity of the nuclei of galaxies, Prof. Ambartsumian, is somehow forgotten. At present the interest in the problem has grown to such an extent and the papers on the activity of the nuclei of galaxies are so numerous that I think it proper to make a brief historical account on the subject of the discourse.
