Abstract
In 1495 the exclusive rights of the Great Admiral Columbus, as granted by the capitulación of 1492, were revoked by Queen Isabel and — with certain restrictions — navigation to the Indies was thrown open to all Spaniards. Among the first to take advantage of this opportunity was one Alonso de Ojeda.
