Abstract
Parent-infant bonding and attachment is one of the most vital of human relationships. In examining this topic, participants in this workshop considered infant and child development from a variety of cultural and theoretical perspectives. Also explored were the roles of institutions and communities in nurturing optimal beginning relationships between parents and their newborn.
