Abstract
Thermography is a scanning technique which gives a photographic display of temperature differences of the surface of the body or inanimate objects. The thermograph measures the heat emission in the infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum in contrast to radiography which measures the energy of X-rays and gamma rays of the same electromagnetic spectrum. The achievement of a satisfactory translation of the natural, invisible, infrared emission of the human body to a visible representation has resulted in the discipline of medical thermography.
